Here is a summary of Fr. Donald Calloway's book "Consecration to St. Joseph"

• Consecration to Joseph is the answer to our broken families, and a lost generation of lazy, porn addicted, defiant, undisciplined, gender confused, emasculated young men.
• Joseph was sanctified before birth, not like Mary who was delievered from the stain of sin at the moment of conception, but like Jeremiah and John the Baptist who were sanctified (set apart) after conception and before birth.
• Consecration to St. Joseph doesn't take anything away from consecration to Jesus through Mary. We need both a Mother and a Father.
• Early church was veiled as to his importance to avoid confusion over virginity of Mary, fatherhood of God
• Things have been heating up around St. Joseph in the last 150 years, but there is a rich tradition including some of the most important saints such as St. Theresa of Avila, St. Frances de Sales, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Andre Basset, Padre Pio, Catherine Emmerich, Faustina, St. Therese de Liseux. There are also many ancient seeds for the current flowering of devotion.
• He is the answer for lost fatherhood, emasculation of men, porn and addiction, and destruction of the family in today’s society, a strong father is the anchor of a family
• Died before Jesus’ public ministry because it would be confusing for Jesus to talk about his father (God), if Joseph was around
• Died from love and suffering, knowing that Jesus would suffer horribly (Simeon’s revelation to him)
• Joseph was young and strong, not too much older than Mary… old men don’t walk to Egypt (100 Miles) and walk twice a year from Nazareth to Jerusalem
• Joseph son of Jacob the patriarch of the 12 tribes fed the whole world with bread when the world was physically starving, Joseph, father of Jesus went to Egypt and fed the world with the bread from heaven, his son, when it was spiritually starving
• Joseph was likely raised from the dead when Jesus died and the 500 tombs were emptied, and likely assumed at that time, body… there are no relics

Seven sorrows and seven joys of Joseph

• Joseph likely delivered many from demons while he was in Egypt (Is 19.1)
• The gold from the Magi was used to support the Holy Family in Egypt
• Sisters of the Miraculous Staircase thought it was Joseph (not Jesus) who built it. They prayed to St. Joseph to send them a carpenter
• Joseph adored Jesus for 30 years day in and day out
• Jesus obeyed Joseph on earth, and also in heaven. The patrimony of Joseph makes him distinct and more important that all the saints including St. Peter, except Mary,
• His chastity and obedience and patrimony and fatherhood, makes him a terror to demons
• Stay close to him when near death, he died in the arms of Jesus and Mary
• He healed St Therese de Lisieux as a child. He is a powerful healer
• Fatherhood and manhood is perfected though love and sacrifice for others
• St. Joseph performed 7 corporal and spiritual works of mercy
• The devil hates honest and diligent work. The significance of Joseph having a simple honest straight forward job cannot be underestimated
• Joseph got the most important things during his sleep. His four dreams are as follows:
• First dream: In Matthew 1:20-21, Joseph is told not be afraid to take Mary as his wife, because she has conceived by the Holy Spirit. (See also the Annunciation in Luke 1:26-38, when an angel visits Mary and she agrees to conceive "through the power of the Most High".)
• Second dream: In Matthew 2:13, Joseph is warned to leave Bethlehem and flee to Egypt.
• Third dream: In Matthew 2:19-20, while in Egypt, Joseph is told that it is safe to go back to Israel.
• Fourth dream: In Matthew 2:22, because he had been warned in a dream, he departed for the region of Galilee instead of going to Judea.
• Joseph chose poverty, only had 2 turtle doves not a lamb to sacrifice, did not strive for the middle class, but chose the poorer class
• The Holy House of Loreto is legit and is the top of the house, the part above ground, the foundation is in Nazareth… it was transported just before the Muslims trashed the area and destroyed relics. It was built with stones, which means Joseph must have been strong. 
• Joseph has 3 treasures. Mary, Jesus, and you
• Without prudence we are too lenient or harsh, it governs the other cardinal virtues of temperance, justice and fortitude
• He had incredible prudence, not human but supernatural prudence… human prudence would not wake up from a dream and move to Egypt, human prudence would rebuke a man (Simeon) who told your wife that her heart would be pierced by a sword
• Joseph is greater than all the Saints and prophets (except Mary).
• He was more faithful and obedient than Abraham;
• more solicitous and pious than Isaac;
• more suffering and laborious than Jacob,
• more patient than Job,
• more chaste than the first Joseph, son of Jacob
• more zealous than Moses;
• he was meeker than David,
• more fervent than Elias,
• more trustful than Ezechias,
• more courageous and intrepid than Mathathias.
• God promised Abraham that of his race the Redeemer should be born, and that in him all the nations of the earth should be blessed. To David God promised that the Divine Saviour should spring from his family and inherit his throne for ever. To Joseph a descendant of Abraham and David, God promised His Divine Son.
